Speaking of door chimes, did you know that Hondas use Morse code for H for theirs?

She was afraid it would wake up our s o n if he was sleeping in the car, and she opened the door.

I don’t understand the motivation here. Does the chime always sound when the door is opened on a VW? The cars I’m used to only sound the chime if the key is in the ignition, or if the lights are left on.

I’m pretty sure it only makes the chime for the cases that you mentioned.

Not sure. But, once in a while I forget to take the key out before opening the door , or I haven’t put on my seatbelt before starting the car, and it chimes at me. I can see how that would be an expensive mistake if you have a baby sleeping.
